Le temps des fêtes ~ The Holiday Season

Nous avons passés une semaine avec des amis au BLM à Pilot Knob, au BLM de Hot Springs et à Borrego Springs. Le BLM Hot Springs est près de I-8 près de Holtville CA, tout près de El Centro CA, ce camping est inclus dans notre passe annuelle. Ici on peut y retrouver deux bains d'eau chaude naturelle. Nous avons bien aimé ce camping, car c'est tranquille avec des emplacements un peu plus isolés pour camper. En chemin pour Borrego Springs, au nord d'El Centro et à l'ouest de Salton Sea, nous sommes arrêtés pour voir les "Mud Volcanoes and Boiling Mud Pots". Ils sont situés près de Westmorland CA, dans le Sonny Bono Salton Sea N.W.R.. Là, on voit de la boue bouillir, car l'eau est très chaude sous la terre. Il y a aussi dans ce secteur plusieurs usines géothermiques, qui prennent de l'eau chaude de la terre pour la transformer en vapeur et ensuite produire de l'électricité. Borrego Springs est une ville que nous avons visitée à quelques reprises dans le passé où on peut y retrouver de belles sculptures métalliques dispersées dans le désert avoisinant. Pendant notre séjour, nous allons en camion dans un canyon jusqu'à Fish Camp et ensuite nous nous rendons au Wind Caves. Les Wind Caves sont des formations géologiques uniques dans cette région. Malgré la marche en montagnes d'un mille, elles en valaient la peine à voir.  Nous passons la veille du Jour de l'An et le Jour de l'An 2018 avec nos amis en voyant des feux d'artifice et des lanternes chinoises dans les environs. Nous nous préparons maintenant pour notre voyage à Hawaii. Toutes les photos du voyage sont ici.

We spent a week with friends at the Pilot Knob BLM, Hot Springs BLM and Borrego Springs. The Hot Springs BLM is near I-8 in the Holtville CA area, close to El Centro CA, this campsite is included in our annual pass. Here you can find two baths of natural hot water. We enjoyed this campsite because it's quiet with some more isolated sites to camp. On our way to Borrego Springs, north of El Centro and west of Salton Sea, we stopped to see the "Mud Volcanoes and Boiling Mud Pots". They are located near Westmorland CA, in the Sonny Bono Salton Sea N.W.R. Here, mud is boiling, because the water is very hot under the ground. There are also several geothermal plants in this area, which takes hot water from the ground to turn it into steam and then produce electricity. Borrego Springs is a city we visited a few times in the past where we can find beautiful metal sculptures scattered in the nearby desert. During our stay, we went by truck in a canyon to Fish Camp and then we walked to the Wind Caves. The Wind Caves are unique geological formations in this region. Despite walking in the mountains for a mile, they were worth seeing.  We spend New Year's Eve and New Year's Day 2018 with our friends watching fireworks and Chinese lanterns in the surrounding area.
